This Privacy Policy explains how the Atheron EV OS mobile application ("App") accesses, uses, stores and handles information when you use the App.
Atheron EV OS is an electric-vehicle battery monitoring, diagnostics and authorized BMS service application designed to communicate with compatible EV battery management systems (BMS).
By using Atheron EV OS, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
2. Information We Access
Depending on the features you use and the connected BMS hardware, Atheron EV OS may access the following information.
2.1 Bluetooth and BMS information
The App uses Bluetooth/Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) to discover and communicate with compatible BMS devices.
Information received from a connected BMS may include:
- Battery pack voltage
- Battery current
- State of charge (SOC)
- Battery capacity
- Individual cell voltages
- Cell voltage difference
- Battery temperature
- BMS temperature information
- Charging and discharging status
- Charge/discharge cycles
- BMS protection and fault status
- BMS model
- BMS firmware information
- Battery/device identification information
- Other diagnostic information supported by the connected BMS
This information is primarily used to provide battery monitoring, diagnostics and authorized service functionality.
2.2 Device information
The App may process limited technical information required for Bluetooth communication and application functionality, such as:
- Bluetooth device name
- Bluetooth connection status
- Android operating-system information
- App version
- Basic device compatibility information
We do not intentionally collect persistent device identifiers such as IMEI or SIM serial numbers for the purposes of identifying individual users.
3. Bluetooth Permission
Atheron EV OS requires Bluetooth access to discover and communicate with compatible BMS devices.
Bluetooth is used for purposes such as:
- Finding compatible BMS devices
- Establishing a connection with a BMS
- Reading battery information
- Performing authorized diagnostic operations
- Performing authorized service/configuration operations
The App does not use Bluetooth to monitor your surroundings or track your physical location.
On Android versions where Bluetooth functionality requires additional system permissions, the App will request only the permissions necessary for the relevant functionality.
4. Location Information
Atheron EV OS is not designed to collect, store or track your precise physical location.
If a particular Android version or device requires a system permission for Bluetooth discovery, that permission is used solely to provide the Bluetooth functionality required by the App and not for location tracking.
5. How We Use Information
Information accessed by Atheron EV OS may be used to:
- Display battery information
- Monitor battery operating conditions
- Display cell-level information
- Display battery temperature
- Display BMS status
- Identify battery/BMS faults
- Generate diagnostic information or reports
- Establish and maintain BMS communication
- Provide authorized service functions
- Improve compatibility with supported BMS hardware
- Troubleshoot technical issues
- Maintain application security and reliability
We do not use battery information for advertising purposes.
6. Local Processing
Where the App operates without a cloud service, battery and BMS information is processed locally on your Android device.
Atheron EV OS does not automatically upload live battery telemetry to Atheron servers merely because the App connects to a compatible BMS.
If future versions introduce cloud-based battery monitoring, account services, remote diagnostics or other online functionality that involves transferring data to Atheron or a service provider, this Privacy Policy and the applicable Google Play Data Safety information will be updated before or when that functionality is introduced.
7. Data Sharing
Atheron does not sell your personal information.
We do not share your battery telemetry with advertisers.
When the current version of Atheron EV OS operates solely through local Bluetooth communication, BMS information is not routinely transmitted to third parties.
If third-party services or software development kits (SDKs) are introduced into the App and process user or device information, their applicable data handling will be evaluated and this Privacy Policy will be updated where necessary.
We may disclose information where required by applicable law, regulation, legal process, or a valid governmental request.
8. Diagnostic Reports
Atheron EV OS may provide functionality to generate diagnostic reports based on information available during a BMS session.
Depending on the implementation, such reports may contain information including:
- Battery voltage
- Battery current
- SOC
- Temperature
- Cell voltage information
- BMS information
- Fault information
- Diagnostic session information
- Battery/BMS identification information
If a report is generated and saved or shared by the user, the user is responsible for choosing where the report is stored or with whom it is shared.
9. Service and Factory Access
Atheron EV OS may provide different levels of functionality depending on the user's authorization.
These may include:

Factory access — May provide advanced configuration and manufacturing/service functionality.
Protected configuration functions are intended only for authorized personnel.
Atheron EV OS does not replace the physical safety protections implemented by the battery management system.
10. Data Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information handled by the App.
Where appropriate, we use measures such as:
- Access controls
- Role-based authorization
- Protected service functions
- Secure application development practices
- Restricted access to sensitive configuration functions
However, no electronic communication or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Users should also protect their Android device and should not share service or factory credentials with unauthorized persons.
11. Data Retention
When BMS information is processed locally by the App, such information remains on the user's device only for as long as necessary for the App's functionality, subject to the device's storage, application behavior and user actions.
If the user deletes the App or removes locally stored application data, locally stored information may be deleted according to Android's application-data management behavior.
Atheron does not retain live BMS telemetry on its servers unless a future version of the App explicitly introduces a cloud service that requires such retention.
12. User Data Deletion
Atheron EV OS does not currently require users to create an Atheron online account for basic local BMS monitoring functionality.
Because basic BMS information can be processed locally, users can remove locally stored App information by using Android's application data controls or uninstalling the App.
If an account-based or cloud-based service is introduced in a future version, users will be provided with an appropriate method to request deletion of their account and associated personal data in accordance with applicable requirements.
Google Play requires apps that offer account creation to provide an accessible account-deletion mechanism both inside the app and through an external web resource.
13. Children's Privacy
Atheron EV OS is not directed toward children.
The App is designed for EV owners, battery users, dealers, technicians, service personnel and authorized Atheron personnel.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
14. Third-Party Services
The App may use third-party libraries or services required for technical functionality, depending on the version of the App.
Where third-party SDKs process user or device information, their practices will be evaluated and disclosed as required by applicable law and Google Play policies.
Atheron is responsible for ensuring that third-party SDKs integrated into the App comply with applicable Google Play requirements concerning user data. Google specifically requires developers to account for data handling by third-party SDKs when completing the Data Safety section.
15. Advertising
Atheron EV OS does not currently use advertising to monetize the application.
The App does not sell battery telemetry or personal information to advertisers.
If advertising is introduced in a future version, this Privacy Policy and the applicable Google Play disclosures will be updated.
16. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect:
- Changes to the App
- New functionality
- Changes to data handling practices
- Changes to legal requirements
- Changes to Google Play requirements
The updated Privacy Policy will be published on this page with a revised Last Updated date.
